SHIVA SHARD PENDANT SOUND/MOVEMENT PIECE

Shiv Shard Pendant/Performance - White Brass, Rice Field Ash from Bali, Shiv Mantra Sound Piece.

The Shiva Shard Pendant is a totem artefact which draws influence from the Shiva Lingam, a symbol of Shiva and male generative power. I decided to celebrate my male power through the pendant, the music and most importantly embodied through movement.

I’ve been drawn to the Hindu God Shiva and the sect devoted to him, the Agoris, who smear cremation ash from the charnel grounds over their bodies as a sign of impermanence and a meditation on death itself. The ash used in this sound/movement piece is from the rice fields of my beloved Tabanan, Bali. After the crops are harvested the roots and stems are burnt to return the nutrients back to the earth, a beautiful meditation on the cycle of life and death that we are all part of. A time to be born, a time to grow and a time to die. Die before you die.
